Now, did he take one lump or two in his tea?

Your turn for next letter Peter. T

Well done, Megan. Don't know why your link works but mine doesn't (mutter...mutter....). Anyway, well done!

Yes, Sugar Lump took three (lumps), and this extra energy helped him to win the Grand National by a neck, in 1803. Runner-up was Haydn's Finger-Wag (the jockey wore a powdered wig, and on a windy day...well, you can guess the rest...). Third was Schubert's Shadow (the ignored, unheralded 100/1 outsider. The jockey, in this case, pausing half way round the course to compose about 200 songs which probably cost him victory).

Megan is Sin-Binned! Too many breaches of the rules!

We must warn her that the Appeal process is long and protracted (and expensive), but for the right fee, I will defend her (without the proverbial leg to stand on, but - hey ho! - as long as I get paid)...

I think, er, you can, Megan. Philip's rules and regulations are complex and mystifying, but we ain't exactly playin' chess here, if you get my drift!!

Voss, Johann Heinrich. Beethoven owned passages from Voss's translations of The Odyssey.

Are you sure that Schubert even finished the race, let alone all the songs?

Winter, Peter. B wrote some variations on a theme by him.

Now, unless I or somebody else posted this already - I haven't time to check - I am safe from the dreaded X.

(Of course, according to the Don's rules, if nobody else posts one in 24 hours I have to do so! )
