Interesting. I wonder why he had to rework the fingering of his entire repertoire for his new violin after this one was stolen? I can't imagine the two were that different!

Does seem strange, imagine a pianist doing that for every different piano they have to play on! The nearest I came to that was when I learnt the Mendelssohn Variations Serieuse in 2 weeks from memory - I was quite pleased with myself until I presented it to my teacher who re-fingered the entire work!
