    Sweet Peas

I have grown I pretty patch of sweet peas this year, it's funny the plant is named, 'sweet pea' because the pods are poisonous , apparently.

Yes I have them as well and smelling sweet!

Aconitum (monkshood) is the plant to be wary of, a gardener died last year merely by brushing past it.

Brushing past Monkshood like that wouldn't cause such severe poisoning! Notice that he has cuts on his hands- he must have touched one and not realised it- it may have woven in between other plants he was handling.

      Poisonous flower in my garden:

I've got a huge Foxglove - it has been taking about 2 years to grow big leaves then its bells shot up. The bells have fallen off now though.

I bought a Foxglove 3 years ago from a community centre and planted it under my kitchen window. that one did well, though now it is much smaller than it was. I wonder if the big one seeded itself from the small one.

Yes, but teeny amounts; if you eat Foxglove then you are food for the worms!

We used to grow them when I lived back east. They do smell sweet! Sweet peas-pretty flower and delicate looking.

Can anyone ID this plant for me please?
I don't know what it is, I rescued it from the corner store as it was reduced in price and looking a bit sorry for itself. There was no label on it.

Wow, I have no idea. They're pretty though. Hope you find the answer.
