    "The Russian Recital, Tchaikovsky - Rachmaninov". This cd has just been given to me as a gift.

    I happened to see the last 15 minutes of a documentary on this man a few nights ago, he was playing so fast my head was swimming!

    I would very much like people's opinion on this pianist, I am posting this on this board since it is not Beethoven related

    He was and outstanding artist - I have a recording of him playing the Bach D minor concerto - wonderful! He was particularly associated with the music of Beethoven and Schubert. I heard a recording of him playing the Appassionata and the speed of the finale was phenomenal - too fast for my taste!
