Help identifying extracts from recorded music

Dear BRS members, could you help me identify two poorly recorded extracts? I "recognize" the first one, I just can't name it; very frustrating!
I've no idea for the second one.

    Edit: can't upload audio files!!

I think only images are allowed, but it might also allow smaller text /pdf/etc.files. But you can link it if it's uploaded somewhere else.

Dear Quijote, perhaps the International Music Score Library Project can help you. Go to www.peachnote.com. Here you can type the melody notes and the engine will look for matches.

Thanks Enrique, that's a good idea. I take it nobody has identified the 2 extracts yet?

No.1 sounds early 19th century Italian opera, possibly Rossini? No.2 possibly Dvorak?

I thought the same, could be Rossini. So I ploughed through a bunch of Rossini overtures on YouTube and we were right!
                      Here's the video:

Dvorak, hmm? I thought Grieg. So back to YouTube, Failing that I'll transcribe it (piano reduction) and check it on IMSLP as per Enrique's suggestion. I'll keep you posted...

Don't tell me you pronounce the "ch" in Bach like a "k"!
