    WQXR radio from New York

This week I've been listening to WQXR's top 120 classical music pieces as voted by their listeners. Top #3 was Beethoven's Symphony 5, Top #2 was Beethoven's Symphony 7, and # 1 coming up soon can ONLY be Beethoven's Symphony 9. A top of the line sweep for the master (smileyface emoticon).

    Happy New Year, Susan.
I think Beethoven has been dominating the listening figures on that station for years.
Probably go over the top this year.

On the local Classical Music radio station here they did a top 50 survey from listeners and Beethoven's 9th came in second to Dvorak's 9th. Messiah came in third.

I think the 9th has been the object of an enormous amount of publicity in the last decades. Propaganda of all types. Don't you think?

It just blew my mind that Dvorak's 9th would be first. Beethoven's 3rd Symphony was not even in the top 50, nor was his Missa Solemnis. The 5th Symphony registered at #27.
