Beethoven's 9th in open air at the Brandenburger Tor

Saturday in Berlin was a huge event at the Brandenburger Tor - Beethoven's 9th in open air with 35.000 in the audiance as the Berliner Philarmonics celebrated their new chief conductor Kirijenko. It was moving to listen and see this! Only the recapitulation of the 1st mov. I found a bit weak, and I missed also pathos in gesture of the conductor ... I never saw Beethoven in such a huge gathering of people!

Nice to see so many people - the Maestoso at the end is too rushed (as usual) - Fricsay gets this just right.
