I don't know if any of you ever have been to the present Beethoven-Halle (I have been on two or three occasions). It is not exactly the most enthralling of halls, it is dark and grim and the seating arrangements are messy. Not a pleasant place, although I did see a wonderful LvB PCs 2 & 4 there last year with L.O. Andsnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, with him leading from the piano. Quite a performance !

No, I have never been to Bonn Albert. It does sound like the Germans could do with an inspiring new Beethoven Concert Hall built in the early 19th century style!

I was outside the hall a few years ago during the day so I don't know what the interior looks like. My attention was mostly taken by the large stone head known as the Beethon, which is more striking than the building:

Not sure what that means, Aeolian. The link works for me but maybe that is just on my computer.
Put "Beethon Bonn" into Google images and you will get a lot of images of this. Look for a big head (not mine!)
