    Allegro Films

The BBC are showing some of the excellent documentaries produced by Christopher Nupen for Allegro films. Last night they showed the extraordinary 98 year old (at the time of filmimg 8 years ago, she is still alive at 106!) pianist Alice Somer-Herz who survived Thereseinstadt. A remarkable lady with an inspirational outlook on life. Also showing this week is the final part of the superb Sibelius film. I have a link to their site on the links page but here it is for those who may be interested in buying some of the dvds.

Yes, I saw that. A remarkable woman. I missed the start of the programme so I'm not sure who was playing parts of the Moonlight Sonata throughout.
    Was it the same lady?

Yes all the piano playing was her - at the time of filming she was still practising over 2 hours daily! I think that was part of a 2 dvd set called 'we want the light'.

Great films these are. Last night I watched (through my sky box) the 2 Sibelius instalments. Looking forward to the Respighi one coming Friday. The Somer-Herz one will be watched in a moment.

A Sky-box is a satellite-receiver cum recording device, which enables you to record it like in the "olden days" with a VHS-videorecorder or even to watch a programme from the beginning after it already has begun (and/or skip the commercials, if necessary )

I -as a complete technidiot- could install it, but I am sure you need your good lady to do it for you (or probably better even: your kids)
