    Andras Schiff Last Night

Last night I had the chance to see this great pianist play Beethoven's Op. 31 sonatas and the "Waldstein." Wonderful, wonderful playing. He even threw in Bach's Italian Concerto for an encore!

I didn't hear a single note out of place, and he tossed off those octave glissandi at the end of the 3rd movement of the "Waldstein" like they were nothing.

With the exception of one fool who forgot to turn off his cell phone and one cricket that got in the building and decided to give a concert of his own during the second and third movements of Op. 31 No. 1, a perfect evening!

I would have loved to have been there Chris The cricket is forgiven but as for the cell phone geek..... I was at the Royal Festival Hall in London a couple of weeks ago - another cell phone (perhaps the same guy?) went off during the world premiere of the Turnage Mambo, Blues & Tarantella (a stunning work I should add) The guy didn't even look that embarrassed
    Love from London
