    Searching Schubert works

    I'm looking for some works of Franz Schubert. Maybe, some of you know them and can give me a clearer definition, like a number...

    I'm interested about, because they are standing in connection to A. Hüttenbrenner:

    Piano Sonata Des-dur

    A setting of a part of the Johannes gospel. (Ev.Joh. 6,59)

    13 Variations over a theme in A-moll of A.H's. string quartet in E-dur

    This may help.

    Piano Sonata Des-dur -- D 567 Sonata in D flat for Piano, first version of sonata in E flat, D 568 Is this what you mean? I'm not good yet with Des-dur and such!


    A setting of a part of the Johannes gospel. (Ev.Joh. 6,59) -- D 607 is Evangelium Johannes for soprano and figured bass


    13 Variations over a theme in A-moll of A.H's. string quartet in E-dur -- D 576

    This is fun, let's do some more!

      Faster than a bullet of a gun, thanks a lot Gurn!

      Sorry, cause messing with german terms Des-dur is D flat. But one point I'm not clear, is the mentioned sonata D 568. Are there two versions of this sonata and this is the second one?

      I would also be glad, if there would be any further stuff to ask, but I fear this all for now. But because I'm steady looking for, I'm sure, I will come later again...

        My pleasure. The way I understand it is that Schubert started to write a sonata in Db, but didn't finish it. He later transposed it into Eb and did complete that second version, which is D 568. Many times when one gets a cycle of "all" the sonatas, such as the recent marvelous one by Mitsuko Uchida, what they mean by "all" is "all the ones he finished", so ones such as this are more rare. I have never heard it, also not any of the other incomplete or fragmentary sonatas and sonatensatzen. So it goes.

              You're right. The right spelling is 'Sonatensätze' which is plural. One movement = Ein Satz / ein Sonatensatz.

                Well, you are all correct, and since I made the word up, I think that is an accomplishment in itself! I is harder to make up words in a language you don't know, eh?
