Hi Peter. Yes, it is great, as Chris says. I knew it is your favourite and was expecting some remark of yours.

Good memory Enrique! I think like Chris that the 2nd is the one I listen to least of all. The 4th is also another favourite and the one I listen to most next to the 8th.

The ones I like the most are the 3rd, the 5th and the 9th.

Yes and I agree they are wonderful - it's just that I have to give them more time now between hearings as I know them so well having listened to them hundreds of times! It's a bit like the Missa Solemnis, one of his greatest works but I only listen to it now once every few years.

Mozart: Et incarnatus est. Apparently a favourite if the late Pope Francis.

To which work does it belong, Megan? Oh, I hurried a bit. I now see it is the C minor mass, a wonderful work.

                    Mendelsohn, A Midsummer Night's Dream

A wonder he could write this being so young.

I attended my nephew's high school end of year concert last night, and the symphonic band played a medley of Mozart pieces, including the music from the Symphony No. 40. I haven't listened to this piece in a while, and that gave me the urge to listen to the entire thing, so now I am listening to this with my morning coffee.

It is a lovely piece, and the Grieg Lyric pieces in general are very enjoyable. Here is a recording of it that I prefer, played by Leif Ove Andsnes on Grieg's piano at the comnposer's villa Troldhaugen.
