Regarding JWN Sullivan's book (Beethoven and His Spiritual Development) that I read many years ago, I have to say I found it terribly turgid.
On a more positive note, I've just received Volumes 1 & 3 of the recently translated Beethoven's Conversation Books (edited and translated by Theodore Albrecht / The Boydell Press) - I'm a happy man this morning as I look forward to ploughing through these...
