An easier one this time Gerd, it's the Andante con moto ma non troppo from Betthoven Op.130.

Again another piece which I just orchestrated - do you recognise this movement?

I recognized it immediately as one of Beethoven's chamber works, but I couldn't place it! I guess I need to up my Beethoven listening!

Just shows how long since I last listened to this piece, simply didn't recognise it in orchestrated form.Originally posted by gprengel View Postit is the beautiful Trio op. 70,2 Eb-Major , 2nd movement! Unfortuneately it seems to stand somewhat under the shadow of its sister op 70,1, the more known "Ghost-Trio". But as a whole I like the second Trio more than the Ghost-Trio. How wonderful the powerful c-minor section in that 2nd movement! I'm orchestrating the whole Trio right now ...

The Mozart influence I think is so obvious in the melodious second movement, but also the first movement ist strongly influenced by Mozart's great 4 hand sonata K 497, especially in the beginning of the development:Originally posted by Peter View Post
Strange you say Mozart, it sounds more like Haydn to me!

It's the delightful Sonata for Piano, Four Hands in D major, Op. 6. I used this one with a piano student once. It's great fun to play!Originally posted by gprengel View PostAnother quiz? Does anyone know what this is? I must admit that I didn't know this gem before orchestrating it in the last days ....

Very good, Peter. I must admit that I did not really know this little movement so far, till I was recently asked to orchestrate this whole sonata . The first 3 movements I finished and now I try the Finale... I can't beleive that all of my life I am a lover of Beethoven and I didn't really know this first sonata so far ...

This is the minuet from Beethoven Op.2/1 - sounds more like a scherzo in your version Gerd and I like the orchestration!
