    Immortal Beloved

Was it true that Beethoven admired(or liked loved whatever you want to call it) many women but they never liked him? Infact the only true love he ever had was his immortal beloved

    #2

Hard one to answer - Beethoven was very much liked and admired by the women in his life (mostly of the aristocracy). In his youth it is reported that he was rarely without a fling. How far most of these relationships went it is not possible to know. The Immortal beloved letters date from 1812 when B was 41 and were written to a married woman (hence the impossibility of their situation). Another major love of his life was Josephine Von Brunsvik, but I doubt that the relationship became physical.
In 1810, Beethoven was seriously contemplating marriage to Therese Von Malfatti (Fur Elise was written for her), but her family objected to the match.
