    Beethoven's ninth

I am rather new to the world of Beethoven, so forgive me if this is an obvious question.....I am looking for two things:
    1) a translation of Ode to Joy (and I gather that there are several versions)
    2) I have heard that there is an annual concert given of Beethoven's Ninth by one of the big symphony orchestra/choir s. Can anyone give me any information on this ie when and where it takes place and which company performs it?

    Thanks.

There is a translation of the Ode on this site - go to Symphony pages at www.kingsbarn.freeserve.co.uk/symphonies.html . As you are resident in the UK Lorna, I think you are referring to the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, where it is a tradition to perform Beethoven's 9th on the last night but one.
