    Where's Rod?

    Dear Moderator,

Won't you please come back from holiday and resume your post as catalyst of the finest Beethoven forum on the net? We're all done partying and ready to get back to the important business of discussing our B. Some folks here haven't had their butts chapped in ages!

    With respect and humility,

    Suz

Nice to have a post from the ladies in support of our much maligned moderator ! With so many brain cells killed off during the festivities, I'm sure a rest was necessary for us all - no doubt Rod is polishing up the sword of wit and has refreshed himself in the font of wisdom, ready for battle !

When you get around to it Rod, you have to
tell us what you'd do if you were
            of noble birth.

                  Les,

My guess is it involves close proximity to the British royal family and extreme unkindness.

I don't know what Rod would do if he were of noble birth, but I do know how he would like to be called: Friedrich Wilhelm III

Buy this before saying you don't like Mahler:

I thought sooner or later someone would pull me up about my signature. Of course all you Beethoven fans should know its origin, for it is a corruption of Beethoven's own words, but 'I' should be replaced by 'he' (he being his nephew Karl, and the quote refers to the favourable treatment of such 'nobles' by the court). My usage is more complex, I mock myself in the true English (but apparently not the Canadian) manner of humour, and more latently I mock the nobility. There you have it.

English humor must certainly be different from what we across the pond categorize as wit. But that is just ducky. Continue as you are, Rod. Don't let me deter your personality from entertaining your ever-appreciative audience.
