Musicians and Conductors who died in 2016

Let's try to remember some of the excellent musicians we lost in the art music world in 2016. My offering will be the great Nikolaus Harnoncourt. How fondly I remember his pre-concert talks in the Musikverein before conducting Concentus Musicus, Wien. Here he is with that group, and the Arnold Schoenberg Choir, performing a Bach cantata (BVW 61).

Another great conductor Sir Neville-Marriner and two well known composers, Peter Maxwell Davis and Pierre Boulez are among those who have departed this year.
